About Pocket-lint

The aim of Pocket-lint is to entertain and inform about the tech that matters.

This approach is at the core of everything we strive to do at Pocket-lint and we constantly ask the same three questions for every product that we see:

  • Does it work?
  • Does it make my life better?
  • Has it got wow factor?

Founded by Stuart Miles in 2003, Pocket-lint is run by a full-time team of professional journalists in the UK and US, with over 100 years of experience between them.

An official nominee for the 2017 Webby Awards, we cover everything consumer tech, be it phones, smart home, cars, cameras, and home entertainment, with the goal of not only helping you make the right buying decisions, but also getting more from your tech products once you've bought them.

Our news and features are designed to be useful and in-depth, our buyer's guides, helpful and knowledgeable, and our reviews thorough, but not overly geeky.

Pocket-lint's team are regularly quoted in newspapers and on websites like the BBC, Bloomberg, and others, as well as appearing on the BBC News and Sky News in the UK.

Brands trust Pocket-lint too, with companies including Apple, Samsung, Sky, and LG all quoting Pocket-lint in their marketing in the last year.

Pocket-lint is a trusted global authority on all things consumer tech and has been at every major tech launch from the roll-out of 3G to the first iPhone to the reveals of all the latest games consoles like the PS3 or original Xbox 360 since 2003.

How we Review Products

We aren't interested in pointless number crunching or providing you overly long 16-page articles including how we took it out of the box, but easy to read, and more importantly, easy to understand words. Here's our full review policy on how we handle products at Pocket-lint whether it is at trade show, a dedicated briefing, or once we've got it in the office.

How we Handle Data

If you are interested in finding out more about how we work, our competition rules, and how we handle cookies or your data you can visit our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy pages to get a detailed explanation.

(Pocket-lint) - Adrian has been a tech enthusiast since the 90s with a particular passion for gaming that developed thanks to his first gaming outings on Pong, Zork and Space Invaders.

In the years that followed he dabbled in various games consoles and personal computers starting with the humble Commodore 64 before moving to Sega Mega Drive, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 2 and then into the world of PC gaming. His gaming outings online in the days of dial-up modems included Command and Conquer and Battlefield 2 before he found the joys of gaming communities and started Enemy Boat Spotted over 10 years ago.

Over the years, Adrian's passion for technology has grown. He has built multiple gaming PCs by hand, and equipped his home with a variety of smart devices. He has been writing about tech and gadgets for the last few years and enjoys sharing that passion with anyone that will listen.

Adrian is currently obsessed with Virtual Reality and is excited to see the future that holds for all of us.

Britta O'Boyle - Deputy editor

Knowledges: Smartphones, smart home, and wearables

Location: London, UK

Languages: English, Swedish

(Pocket-lint) - Britta has been part of the Pocket-lint team since 2014, starting as a contributing editor before working her way up into the deputy editor chair.

You’ll often see her name on some of our biggest features, including many of the versus articles and the rumour round ups, but she is also responsible for ensuring all the other great features from other members of the team cover off everything you might want to know about.

Previous to joining the tech industry, Britta worked within interior magazines, covering the smart home and smart appliances before many knew what they were or what they entailed. Throughout her journalist career, Britta has travelled the world in search of a good story, while her dedication to delivering thorough reviews has seen her climb three mountains in 24 hours to test the accuracy of the 10 fitness trackers she was wearing.

Britta has a first class honours degree in Fashion Journalism from London College of Fashion, during which she gained experience from both GQ and the Daily Telegraph, while also learning the importance of good design whether that be clothing or a smartwatch. Her free time is mostly taken up by her demanding kids these days, but she absolutely adores travelling, food and great shoes.

You’ll never find her without her rose gold Apple Watch on, desperately seeking the completion of the three rings so she can justify the extra bar of chocolate.

In that time, his area of focus and expertise has mostly been centred on mobile technology, but he has a musician’s ear and is equally adept at judging headphones and audio products.

His chosen weapons of creativity include Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Pixelmator and Affinity Photo. He’s a graduate in Film and TV Production, and in his spare time he’s usually running, playing guitar, singing or training in the arts of movie and coffee snobbery.

(Pocket-lint) - I've worked in media for over 10 years now having sold for and managed brands within various sectors from motorsport to outdoor leisure during my time at several major UK media companies such as Haymarket and Future PLC.

Over the years I've worked with a vast array of different clients, everything really from small, specialist businesses to large scale manufacturers, retailers and service providers. My clients' needs are important to me so I specialise in delivering results driven, integrated campaigns to suit all budgets.

Outside of work I'm an avid Spurs supporter (for my sins), a bit of a foodie, love a good gadget, self proclaimed craft beer and gin connoisseur, a distinctly average gamer and I'll watch absolutely anything Marvel puts its name to.

That master’s course followed a few years in the mixer doing marketing and PR after an undergraduate degree from Oxford University. Max is an avid gamer, but writes about whatever is newsworthy, and works across buyer’s guides, features, news and more for the site.

He’s also contributed to Kotaku UK, The Sunday Times, the Press Association and MUNDIAL. When he’s not working, his time is divided worryingly evenly between football, culture and sleeping.

(Pocket-lint) - Oliver has written about technology for more than a decade, spanning some of the biggest properties in the space including Macworld, iMore, Lifewire, and Input. With a focus on mobile, gaming, and anything with a plug or a battery, he's another member of the Pocket-Lint family with too many empty boxes and not enough places to put them.

Over the years, Oliver tried to save money by not spending huge sums on fancy GPUs and super-fast gaming PC RAM to spending even more money on Macs.

Outside of tech, Oliver's time is spent being worn out by two young sons and watching football (Sheffield Wednesday, unfortunately) through half-opened fingers while hiding behind the couch.

Knowledges: Audio, TV, smartphones, tablets, smart home

Location: London, UK

(Pocket-lint) - Verity has been a technology journalist for 15 years, starting her career working for the rather questionably named "Boys Toys" magazine, before its editor moved to an up-and-coming website called Pocket-lint, and brought her on board as staff writer. Fourteen years and staff roles at Stuff, MSN and What Hi-Fi? later, plus a 5-year stint as a freelancer contributing to the likes of Wired, Metro, Evening Standard and BBC Science Focus, she is back as Pocket-lint's reviews editor, testing the latest tech and heading up the site's review programme.

In her time as a journalist she has covered the highs and lows across the breadth of consumer tech, and tested everything from smartphones and stereo speakers to robot lawnmowers and electric cars. She has a particular interest in audio and TV, which means she has spent a lot of time watching movies and listening to music and passing it off as work.

You'll occasionally catch her on BBC radio commenting on the latest tech news stories, and always find her in the living room, recalibrating terrible TV settings at parties.
